SS22 Trends – ‘Bags of logos’
Undeniably, as part of the popular ’90s nostalgia trend, big brands have returned to the much loved monogram and logo detailing of bags in a big way for spring/summer 22. From the distinct, repeat patterns of Gucci, Louis Vuitton, or even Christian Dior, to the oversized, quilted and metal monograms of Chanel. Brands including Fendi, Balenciaga and Emporio Armani, once again have the fashion industry falling in love with prominent branding.
We are seeing more of the distinct repeat patterns of Gucci and Louis Vuitton to the oversized, quilted, and metal monograms of Chanel. For this new season, it seems to be all about showing off which brand of bag you’ve splashed the cash on.
However, since the 90s and early 2000s, times have changed, fashion has evolved, and although monograms may not be the most elegant, they exude the kind of luxury we forgot about.
By combining nostalgia with innovation, the monogram is timeless as well as trendy, making that seemingly expensive purchase seem more like a smart investment. What’s not to love about that?
